Position Overview:
The Lab Technician in the Construction Department is responsible for conducting material testing, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and maintaining quality control throughout the construction process. This role involves both on-site and laboratory testing of construction materials, as well as proper documentation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections to ensure that contractors follow project specifications and use standardized materials.
Perform laboratory testing on construction materials throughout planning and execution, maintaining accurate records.
Collect and analyze soil samples, conduct on-site material testing, and coordinate external laboratory tests when required.
Report any material abnormalities immediately to the relevant authorities.
Carry out routine tests and analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Maintain test records, analyses, and past reports for quality control and auditing purposes.
Operate standard construction material laboratory testing equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
Perform calculations and analyses to verify test data accuracy.
Conduct various construction material tests as per applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Clean, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment for optimal performance.
Prepare QC Laboratory documents, including work procedures, ITP (Inspection & Test Plans), QAP (Quality Assurance Plan), checklists, and other required formats.
Coordinate with contractors for field testing, pre/post-concrete inspections, and necessary approvals.
Collect soil samples from designated points, ensure proper drying and sieving, and prepare them for required tests.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in construction material testing or a similar role.
Knowledge of soil mechanics, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
Strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures and quality control standards.
Ability to operate and maintain testing equipment effectively.
Proficiency in documenting and analyzing test results.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with applicable industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or equivalent).
Basic computer skills (MS Office, reporting software).
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to work on-site and in laboratory environments.
Ability to coordinate with contractors and engineers for project-specific testing.
Understanding of safety protocols and compliance regulations in construction testing.
This role is critical for maintaining the quality and integrity of construction materials used in projects at Canal Valley- Sarai Alamgir and Dream City - Kharian .
