The establishment of a New Zealand entity aligns with ACE’s commitment to regional compliance, governance, and market localization. A Resident Director will be appointed to ensure statutory, operational, and regulatory alignment within the jurisdiction.

Job Title: Resident Director – New Zealand Entity

Reporting to: Chairman of the Board / Shareholders

Role Summary:

The Resident Director will serve as a statutory director under the New Zealand Companies Act 1993, ensuring robust local governance, compliance with all regulatory obligations, and representation of ACE Money Transfer in interactions with New Zealand authorities. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in financial services, fintech, or remittance operations, with a strong foundation in legal, regulatory, and corporate governance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Governance & Statutory Compliance
  • Serve as the Resident Director to fulfil legal obligations under the Companies Act 1993.
  • Ensure compliance with all director responsibilities and fiduciary duties in New Zealand.
  • Maintain ACE's registration and reporting standards with the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR).
B. Regulatory Engagement
  • Act as ACE’s local representative to regulatory authorities including:
    • Department of Internal Affairs (DIA)
    • Financial Markets Authority (FMA)
    • Other relevant New Zealand government bodies.
  • Manage audits, inspections, and investigations initiated by regulatory entities.
C. Risk Management & Controls
  • Oversee and ensure the effectiveness of:
    • Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) protocols.
    • Fraud prevention systems.
    • Transaction monitoring frameworks.
    • Cybersecurity and data protection policies.
  • Participate in risk assessment and internal audit review meetings.
D. Board Contributions
  • Attend board and committee meetings; actively contribute to:
    • Strategic direction and planning.
    • Risk governance frameworks.
    • Ethical leadership and compliance oversight.
    • Local governance insights and reputational risk mitigation.
E. Operational Oversight
  • Monitor business operations within New Zealand to ensure alignment with applicable laws.
  • Contribute to business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and data privacy compliance under the Privacy Act 2020.
Qualifications & Experience:

Mandatory Requirements
  • Residency: Must be a New Zealand resident or an Australian resident qualified under ASIC.
  • Experience: 5–7 years in a senior leadership, compliance, or director role within a regulated financial institution or fintech.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of AML/CFT Act.
    • Familiarity with DIA, FMA, and FSPR regulations.
    • Experience engaging with New Zealand regulatory bodies.
Educational Background
  • Degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Additional certifications in governance, compliance, or risk management preferred.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
 
  • Exposure to cross-border remittance systems, digital wallets, and international fintech.
  • Familiarity with global financial regulations (e.g., AUSTRAC, FCA, MAS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for board-level reporting.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage local and international stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital risk governance.
Legal & Compliance Obligations:
  • Must not be disqualified from directorship under Companies Act 1993.
  • Required to pass regulatory fit-and-proper assessments and ongoing vetting.
  • Must retain residency status for the duration of the appointment.
  • Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in financial regulations and governance practices.
